Improving Consular Services
Enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and quality of consular services for Liberian citizens in Nigeria (and neighboring accredited countries) and foreign nationals seeking visas to Liberia. This aims to ensure diaspora welfare and bolster Liberia’s image as a service-oriented nation.
Boosting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Nigeria to Liberia
Proactively increase Foreign Direct Investment from Nigerian businesses into Liberia’s economy. The objective is to secure new investments, joint ventures or trade deals that contribute to Liberia’s economic growth (and job creation), by showcasing Liberia’s opportunities and investor-friendly policies to Nigerian entrepreneurs.
Expanding Cultural Outreach and Public Diplomacy
Strengthen people-to-people ties and mutual understanding between Liberia and Nigeria, and enhance Liberia’s public image in Nigeria. By expanding cultural diplomacy and outreach, the Embassy aims to project Liberia’s rich cultural heritage, build goodwill, and create opportunities for educational and cultural exchanges.
Supporting Initiatives for Job Creation in Liberia
Leverage the Embassy’s position in Nigeria to support job creation and economic empowerment in Liberia. This involves facilitating partnerships, knowledge transfer, and resource mobilization that help create employment opportunities in Liberia, particularly for youth and vulnerable populations. While job creation is primarily a domestic challenge, the Embassy can play a catalytic role by linking Liberia with Nigerians and international initiatives that boost skills and industries.
Deepening Relationships with Countries Accredited to Liberia via Nigeria
Deepen diplomatic relations with countries that do not have resident embassies in Liberia but whose ambassadors in Abuja are concurrently accredited to Liberia. By actively engaging these non-resident ambassadors, the Embassy seeks to ensure Liberia remains on their agenda – attracting more support, cooperation, and visibility from their respective governments.
Modernizing and Upgrading Embassy Infrastructure in Abuja
Renovate and modernize the Embassy’s physical infrastructure – including the Chancery (office), the official Diplomatic Residence, the Ambassador’s Residence, and the staff quarters (“Boys’ Quarters”) – to provide a safe, functional, and representative environment. An upgraded infrastructure will improve operational efficiency, staff morale, and the image of Liberia in the host country.
Strengthening Overall Mission Representation and Daily Operations
Enhance the Embassy’s day-to-day operational capacity, logistical readiness, and administrative excellence to support its diplomatic mission. This entails ensuring that the Mission is well-equipped, staff are well-trained and motivated, and that internal processes run smoothly and accountably – ultimately projecting an image of professionalism and reliability to both Liberia and the host country.
Peace and Regional Security
Strengthen Liberia’s contribution to and benefit from regional peace and security through active engagement in ECOWAS mechanisms and bilateral security cooperation with Nigeria.
